Photo To Canvas
Photo to Canvas
This process is where we transform your photo from ether a digital image, slide or existing photograph into a stunning canvas print. This begins with evaluating you image.Digital images
With digital images the size of the file dictates the size that it can be enlarged to. If you would like your finished canvas to be over 40cm x 40cm we need a file size of about 350kb or over for the finished product to be of high quality. If you don’t have a file size that large, that's OK just send through the largest file size you have and we will let you know what size you can enlarge to.Photos
With photos, new or old the best way is to scan the image. This process can be done by us if your photo is A4 size or smaller. If you have a larger photo it can be scanned at a zerox shop. Just check with your local one beforehand to make sure they can scan the size of your photo. They will provide you with a CD of your image that we can use to produce your canvas. Scanned photos need some photoshop work done as they often have scratches, fluff and dull colour. We are happy to do minor touch-ups at no charge to improve you image. If the image needs more than just minor touch-up, we will consult you before hand as charges will apply.
Old or damaged photos
We can also reproduce old photos onto canvas. This process also required the photo to be scanned. Once we have the image in a file format we can then begin photo enhancement and repair. This can be quite a long process; however it is very rewarding once you have the finished product.
Here I will take you through the process of repairing an old photo. This image was scanned from a photo. The photo is approximately 100 years old. It is of my Great grandparents. When it came into my hands, as you can see it was quite damaged.

Once I have the image in photoshop the restoration can begin. Many different effects were used in this healing process. These included Crop tool, colour enhancement, contrast change, brightness adjustment, clone tool, healing tool and others. After about an hour working on this image I now have a much improved image that I can happily print.
The cost of restoring an image depends on the amount of restoration needed. We charge $75 an hour, which is a small price to pay for bringing life back into those old images.
